Canine chiropractic
care is a
drugless alternative method of health care. Many have found
chiropractic helpful when it comes to increasing energy, improving
sports performance and even increasing resistance to disease.
Canine chiropractic care works with the nervous system to
help the brain better communicate with the body. This is done
using chiropractic adjustments which specifically help to keep
joints properly aligned. Better communication within the body
means better functioning of that body in all activities.
Chiropractic
does not replace traditional forms of veterinary health care.
It works really well with it! When a joint is affected it
looses motion and then eventually proper position as well.
The chiropractic adjustment restores motion and alignment and
therefore function and performance.
There are many causes of misalignment which may include injuries,
improperly fitting saddles or harnesses, stall confinement,
need for hoof care, poor confirmation, too much work or even
not enough work. Symptoms you may observe include:
- lameness
- difficulty putting on a collar or harness
- does not want to be touched or pet
- can't jump up
- shows sudden behavioral changes
- shows body stiffness
- shows body weakness
- excessive paw licking
- dragging the feet
- dragging the hind end
- favors sitting to one side
- digestion troubles
- shows the beginnings of incontinence
- shows a decreased interest at play or work
- poor performance in competition
- dogs who suffer congenital joint disease
Chiropractic works by finding the cause of the problem, attempts
to eliminate that cause and then allows the body to heal itself.
Keep in mind that your dog may or may not experience any
symptoms of spinal misalignment but a regular check up will
help to prevent any problems that may arise in the future!
